RW 01 Susukan Residents Develop Urban Farming

Residents living in Susukan Urban Village, Ciracas, East Jakarta are implementing urban farming in the Hatinya PKK "Dahlia" Park in Gg Tong Ri'ih.

On the 110-square meter wide land, they plant various types of vegetables, family medicinal plants (Toga), ornamental plants to other productive plants.

Yono Haryono (52), an owner of land said it has been conducted since 1.5 years.

"We also make a 3.75 square meter nutritional pool," he expressed, Friday (12/27).

Especially for Toga that was planted reached 65 types such as, figs, miyana, aloe vera, kembang telen, kencur, red ginger, etc. Then there are 10 types of vegetables planted such as, spinach, kale, eggplant, chillies, tomatoes and pakcoy.

"We also have productive plants, like star fruit, papaya, passion fruit, and tubers," he explained.

Putro Teguh Suharyono, Acting Head of Susukan Urban Village expressed coaching continues to be done to its residents in the greening program.

"There are totally eight parks in seven RWs. Each has its own characteristics. "For RW 01, it is typically kembang teleng and aloe vera which is used as a health drink," he told.

Thus far the PKK cadres are also focused on pakcoy juice production program.

"The making is done to utilize the results of urban farming thus it can increasingly provide benefits," he stated.
